Ingredients: Keep it simple

I will be the first to admit trying to keep the ingredients simple in any commercial item is becoming extremely difficult.

The advancements in science and technology have created monster industries that produce almost all our food, skincare, hair care, and pharmaceuticals.

Go For Simple Ingredient List

The chemicals that are being put into our food have increased so much that we can hardly identify any actual food. The ingredient list is filled with preservatives, color and flavor additives and neurotoxins that make us unnaturally crave food this our bodies don’t even recognize.
The body care industry has become so vast and competitive that nearly anything goes nowadays just to enter the market. The amount of chemicals absorbed through our skin by using make-up, body lotions, deodorant, scented body sprays, self-tanners, artificial nails, artificial eyelashes, just about anything you can think of…we will put it on our bodies in hopes to make us look better.

We forget about how important it is to keep our body healthy and tend to focus more on how it looks. I am not suggesting it is easy or even possible nowadays to only put food into our body and product on our skin that is chemical free, but I am suggesting that we should start at the very least begin to look at the ingredients and research whether or not they are potentially harmful. Think about the increasing incidents of cancer. The information is overwhelming to me at least, as to the rate of Americans that will most likely have cancer in their lifetime. What is more overwhelming is that for the most part, more and more widespread thinking is that cancer could be prevented with simple, basic, whole foods. Nutrients. Nutrients that our bodies recognize, process and keep us healthy.

The population may be living longer, however, are they living healthier?

Most people that grew up eating food from farms the worked, and products that they either made or went without due to economic reasons…lived very long and healthy lives without a lot of pharmaceutical use to keep them going. The level of activity that people from the Depression Era did throughout the day is much more than what the children of today are doing now. People used to have to for the most part, harvest food, clean it, prepare it, and clean up for the next day, sun up to sun down. There was no sitting in front of a computer ordering your meal, waiting for it to arrive and continue to sit and eat in front of the TV all without much movement. No preparing the food, not dishes, no shopping, and quite possibly no nutrients in that highly processed meal. All those chemicals just sitting in your body with no way to be processed out. Instead, the chemical food begins to attach to your organs, fat cells, etc. Then day after day, your body has become prime for cancer cells to grow.

Get Back To Basics

Start getting back to basics from our uber-convenient lifestyles.

Find a recipe, go grocery shopping, prepare your own food and share it with others. Begin somewhere, maybe just one small change a month. Find what is important to you and learn how to change that one small aspect of your life for the better.

Then make one more change.

Find an alternative for maybe a skincare product. Use coconut oil as a moisturizer or hair mask. Then share that information with the people you love.

Soon, you will look and feel great and be much healthier. Find the time for basics in your life, one step at a time.
